“Knock on wood.”くわばら、くわばら

Yesterday afternoon, plumes of dark ash clouds rising fast and furious over Sakurajima started bearing down on us, pounding ,whipping, sneering at us, residents of Aira-city.

昨日桜島から急速に立ち上がる噴煙が我々に襲いかかった。叩きつける灰は我々住民をあざ笑ったかのようだ。

Damn it all, I forgot to ”knock on wood” when we gave a horselaugh at the sight of tons of volcanic ashes wafting through the air into Kagoshima-city. (despicable behavior though)　 Luckily we had light rain-shower after that, if not enough.

しまった！knock on woodをしていなかった。ものすごい火山灰が鹿児島市へ向かった時、高笑いをしたからね。 （さもしい行為かもしれないが）。幸いその後、十分とは言えないが軽い雨が降った。

People in Kagoshima are, either pleased or depressed depending on the direction of ash-flow, aren’t they?　 Now people impossible to escape from Sakurajima should kiss and make up, shouldn’t we?　You say, “ kiss the Blarney stone?” Yes, you can say that again! !Experience counts!
