他用でblog更新せず、昨日Laud lang syne=蛍の光に続き、ようやく懸案着手、皆さんご存じの事を整理しました。mightは奥が深いです。

mayの特異性

　１：意味によって否定形が異なる

　　　許可の場合：May I read this newspaper?  No, you must not.

      可能の場合：Gather roses while you may. 若いうちに楽しめ

　　　　　　　　　　　He who runs may read.極めて明白だ 　この場合の否定形はcannot

　２：might は時制の一致の形か、仮定法、がいずれも過去の意味はない。

　　　　　　　　　It might be true.  mayより弱い　

                  この事がまず基本と思います。

　　またmay は許可、可能（can）,可能性についての推量がある。その中で

可能性についての推量を表すmayは肯定文、否定文、には用いられるが疑問文には用いられない。この意味での否定形はmay not~(しないかもしれない)、

過去のことについてはmay have+過去分詞(したかもしれない)と完了形で使う。

○　疑問文はcan, might、疑問詞とは使える

　The rumor may be false or it may not (be false).

  She may have meant what she said.彼女は本気でそういったのかもしれない。

　Might Mariko be at home?  万里子はひょっとして家にいるのかな？

　Who may you be? 疑問文中に用いられたmayは不確実表し（一体～だろうか）

　　　どなたでしたけ！　Cf:  疑問詞の中のshould は驚き、意外、不可能

  I wonder what may have been the cause of his suicide.

　彼の自殺の原因は何だったのだろう

　Can the rumor be true? 疑問文（強い疑い）

　No, I cannot be true.否定文（否定的　推量）　

○  may as well~ as  と　might as well ~ as　の違い,

    may as well~ as は内容を肯定、might as well~ asは内容を否定

    You may as well call her amazon as call him a hero.  (amazo男まさりの女)

       彼を英雄と呼ぶなら彼女を女傑と呼んでもよい・・・（どちらも呼べる）

　　You might as well call a horse a fish as call a whale a fish.

　　　鯨を魚と呼ぶなら馬を魚と呼ぶ方がました。・・・（どちらも呼べない）

   ○仮定法の条件部にmightを用いた場合、常に許可、可能を表す

　　　I would go if I might. 行ってもよければゆくのだが

　　　I wouldn’t do the work even if I might.

　　　たとえすることができてもその仕事はしたくない

 ○ mightが非難、残念な気持ち（～　しそうなものだが）（してもよさそうなのに）

　 Must you go at once? You might wait at least till it stopped raining.

        せめて雨がやむまでまってもよさそうなのに　　

　　　　助動詞については、その歴史を考察する必要があります。

日本人は伝統的に旬の味を大切にしてきたのですが、この頃は色々な食べ物が一年中手に入るようになり季節に合わせた味覚を楽しむ習慣を無くしているようです。紅葉を見ながら温泉に浸り秋の味覚を楽しむ、日本人の大いなる楽しみです。どうです、秋楽しんでいますか！   冬軍間近、準備できましか？
